As a collector, I am designing this site the way I would like to use it.  As a result I hope you find it just resourceful. After years of  local classifieds, and auto traders, I have found  best deals when buying old trucks is on eBay. Not only for old trucks for sale, but also antique truck parts. It has been a valuable resource for myself. Most of the value from buying on line comes from the volume of old trucks for sale. There are always going to be people asking too much, or over evaluating their old trucks, but there are also as many who are looking to liquid their old trucks for one reason or another. If you look at enough trucks, it is just a matter of time before  a good deal on the classic truck or restoration project you are looking for will present itself! The average auction lasts 7 days, every day there are many more old trucks for sale listed.

If you are looking for a Chevrolet 3100 Pickup Truck for example, there are about 50 of them listed at the time of this post, and this seems to be average. The prices are ranging from $1500 to $25,000. In 7 days from now, there will be another 50 Old Chevy 3100 Pickup Trucks for sale. This is a huge opportunity for someone patient enough to weight for most opportune time. Sure there will be number of bad deals, in fact probably the majority, but that's OK. On average you will find a handful of good deals each month.

My advice is to be patient. If you know exactly what type of old truck you are looking for, check back every few days for the new listings. Patients will get you a truck that suits your needs at a good price.

The nice thing about eBay, is that it is an auction. Don't be afraid to place a bid for the price you want to pay for your classic truck. The worst that can happen, is you get outbid, no big deal, you either wait for the next one, or decide if you are willing to pay more.

When searching directly on ebay,  you can become overwhelmed with the search results. For a Chevy 3100, will bring up lots of die-cast models, parts, magazines etc as well as the trucks. Old Trucks For Sale uses an algorithm that does a great job of filtering out unrelated itmes, giving you a cleaner, highly targeted list from where to start your search. With a click of the mouse, see all the trucks for sale by year, or by make, and even right down to model for the more popular makes. Alternatively, you can use the search bar at the top of the page and type in exactly what you are looking for (ie: "Chev 3100") and you will be provided with a list of all the Chevrolet 3100 trucks, and that's it!

It Can Be Intimidating buying old trucks online

After all you are forking out your hard earned money to purchase a truck that you may not of seen in person yet. How do you know the person you are buying from is being honest with you? There are several security measures in place.

eBay has a feedback system

to tell you how this particular seller has done in the past. You can click on the number in parentheses next to their user ID to see the feedback profile. Feedback is left after each transaction has completed. For each positive feedback there is 1 point added, to each negative 1 is subtracted, and a neutral is neither. It is important to check a sellers feedback profile, you are able to view comments left from previous people who have bought or sold to this individual. There may also be a star next to the sellers name, a star is awarded for a feedback score of 10 or more. A yellow star is 10-49 points, blue is 50 to 99, and it goes on. You can only receive 1 feedback point per eBay member. This means you could have 10 positive transactions with one person, but you will only receive 1 point.

For example: My feedback score on bay is 77, and I have a blue star next to my name. Even though I have more then 77 positive transactions (and zero negative) on eBay, my score is only 77 since I have purchased from the same vendors before.

The eBay feedback system has worked very well for me in the past. It takes a long time, a lot of work, and a lot of transactions to build up your feedback sore, one negative feedback can destroy your reputation online. Most sellers will avoid this at all costs. All sellers I have dealt with, who have a high positive feedback score, I have found will go out of their way to make you happy, it is in both of your interests

What if you have found the perfect old car for sale cheap on eBay, but the seller is new, or has a low feedback score?

You use an escrow service.

The only escrow service that is approved by eBay is Escrow.com. Escrow.com reduces the potential risk of fraud by acting as a trusted third party that collects, holds and disburses funds according to Buyer and Seller instructions. Escrow services are provided by a licensed and regulated escrow company. Once a price has been established you make the payment to the escrow company, and terms are agreed to. You can inspect the car, and make sure it is as described. Only after you approve the inspection of the car, the funds are released to the seller.
